NEW Panasonic X Zoom Lenses. 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 & 45-175 f4.0-5.6 OIS
Looks like these two new Panasonic X lenses will be available pretty soon. I have been waiting and hoping for a real MFT zoom lens for a while now. Unfortunately for me these may not be a perfect fit. For casual use on the GH2 these two zooms would fit the bill.
The lenses are to slow for indoor use in available light. They have image stabilization which is great but I like fast lenses. The 45-175 is f4.0-5.6. The 14-42 is f3.5-5.6. Not bad but limited. Tough to get shallow depth of field for portraits, and for video to isolate the subject from the background. As for the zoom it works with a lever on the side of the lens. I’m assuming it will be smooth since the lens is designed to work with video as well as stills

This is a good start and hopefully panasonic will come out with more video centric fast zooms in 2012.
