HyperDeck Shuttle V2 Now Records Timecode & Triggers Recording
Records Timecode And Triggers Record With SDI Flags.
The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck SSD recorder when it first released only recorded a Quicktime uncompressed format. Then BMD added the Avid DNxHD codec to version two. That was a big deal since working with uncompressed video can be a pain and these days mostly unnecessary with ProRess and cinform and the like.
Now with a new firmware update versions one and two will also have Timecode and start and stop features. This little SSD recorder is getting better and better.
The HyperDeck SDI input recognizes the cameras embed start/stop flags within their SDI video output and HyperDeck Shuttle now recognizes these commands to start and stop recording in sync with the camera.
I cant confirm this but was told that you can change the settings to record the DNxHD codec with a .mov wrapper and use the clips in Final Cut Pro 7 as well as FCPx. That is incredible if it’s true. I need to get a clip to try this out. Very cool!
This is a great deal at $327 for the HyperDeck plus the SSD drive and a $94 mounting plate this recorder is less than half the price of other recorders on the market. The one thing left to add to the HyperDeck to get me to buy one is adding the ProRes codec . That would pretty much seal the deal. I have a feeling this will be coming soon with a licenses agreement from Apple. NAB maybe?

If they add the ProRes Codec it will pretty much sell itself! Fingers crossed for NAB!
Great website. The Hyperdeck Shuttle already does ProRes; the first version did this and now the new version adds DnXHD.
Thanks for coming by. The first version was only uncompressed quicktime. I wish it was ProRes.
