Blackmagic Design’s New Cinema Camera
I went to visit Blackmagic Design at NAB to chat with two marketing guys from BMD and they showed me the new Cinema Camera that was just released. I was a little stunned at first. It looks like a DSLR but bigger. Has a EF mount and a 2.5K sensor that is a bit smaller than Micro Four Thirds. Its 2K camera but dent give you a 2K recorded image. It’s HD but having the extra resolution gives you a better image. The interesting concept here is that the camera was design to use with DaVinci Reslove in fact it comes with a the full retail version and also UltraScope software. The RAW image is impressive. This can be color graded very easily.
For all the spec visit Blackmagic Design.
The crazy part is this only cost $2995. That isn’t a typo! DaVinci Resolve alone cost $1000 and UltraScopes $660 so that puts the camera at $1335.
I’m going back to talk to the R&D guys to talk more about the new camera and give some input. They are interested in feedback. How cool is that. The camera was only a few hours old and already BMD wants to make it better.
I will update this post when I get back from NAB.
