New Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Lens Has Finally Arrived! Unboxing & Preview

October 1, 20132 Comments

I’ve been waiting for over a month for the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Lens to arrive and yes it’s finally here! Shot a quick unboxing and preview literally in one take first thing this morning.

First impressions is that it has a great build. A little heavy but not surprising for a 1.8 zoom lens. I never had one in my hand before because this is the first f1.8 zoom lens ever made. How cool os that! Focus is nice and smooth with nice dampening. Same goes for the zoom. I think the focus through is about 2/3 rotation but maybe a tad less. I put it on a C300 this morning in the studio since I needed a few pick up lines for a spot and was impressed with the almost macro closes I could get. About five inches away from a subject even at 18mm. Looked to be about the same. At 1.8 it looks sooooo cool!

Here is a hands on review at B&H for mainly stills.

Back to work and hopefully this weekend I can go out and do some shooting all with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Lens.
