C100-update

Wow! It’s been a busy week so far. Today Canon released the firmware update for the Continuous Recording Function. This new update enables you to insert metadata markers identifying crucial scenes and moments with a press of a button while recording. Check out the full description below from Canon. The firmware can be DOWNLOADED HERE.

Directly compatible with Grass Valley’s EDIUS® Pro 7 editing software, Continuous Recording lets you record an entire event without missing any significant moments during corporate presentations and weddings, for example. The same image files and companion metadata are recorded to the EOS C100’spair of media cards, with sequences between each IN and OUT point being tagged as a chosen shot.

EDIUS Pro 7 handles real-time editing of these continuous AVCHD-format files while on location from SD media and simultaneous backup using a laptop. Multiple image resolutions, together with unlimited audio, video, graphics and title tracks, EDIUS is an ideal finishing solution for videographers shooting corporate, documentary and theatrical productions. The non-linear editor also supports EDL project import/export and color-correction interchange with DaVinci Resolve™.

EOS C100 Camera Continuous Recording Function Firmware Update

Designed for the capture of crucial, unpredictable scenes during wedding/event, documentary, news, or wildlife filming, the Continuous Recording Function firmware update for the EOS C100 Digital Video Camera enables videographers to insert metadata markers identifying crucial scenes and moments in their footage while continuously recording to the memory capacity. These markers — for both “in” and “out” points — can be set with the press of a button without interrupting the recording process. These markers are identified in metadata as separate “shots,” and are simultaneously recorded to both SD card slots of the EOS C100 camera.

A recap and availability timeline of the feature upgrades and firmware updates detailed in this release can be found in the grid below. For more information, please visit the Canon U.S.A. website at http://usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/standard_display/cinema-firmware.

This is a very expensive remote but could be very handy in remote switching situations where no operator is at the camera.
