Blackmagic Camera’s Get New ProRes Flavors With Firmware 1.8.2
Today Blackmagic released an update for the Blackmagic Cameras that give you several new flavors of ProRes. This is great for projects that don’t require the HQ version that creates very large files and also eats up your media. I like ProRes 422. It’s just right when I use my Ninja Blade with the C100. I would probably use that a lot with a Blackmagic camera. Especially the Pocket Cinema Camera.
Also announced is a big discount of 50% off the Pocket Camera for a limited time. With ProRes 422 you can really take advantage of the space on those compact flash cards.
Below is the full description.

Mine is a BMPCC, and edit all my stuff in Windows 7 with Avid MC. I wonder if that improvement in Prores 422, which is also the format I use, will help me too.
It will make the files much smaller. If you don’t need the HQ or DMG resolution for certain projects it will be much easier to work with and save space on your hard drives and media cards. Nice benefits!
