Odyssey7Q is a 7.7″ OLED monitor with 3400:1 contrast, true blacks, 1280×800 resolution and comprehensive monitoring tools. The Odyssey7Q can record HD Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 4K Apple ProRes, Uncompressed, Sony FS7/FS700 RAW, Canon C500 4K RAW, ARRIRAW and POV RAW. 4K ProRes coming very soon.

One missing feature in the Odyssey7Q is 4K over HDMI. Unfortunately it doesn’t work at this time and is limited to HDMI Version 1.4a support, up to 1080p30 422 8-bit. This makes it tough to pair with the Sony A7s and Panasonic GH4 since both of them send 4K from the Micro HDMI output. If this can be updated that would sure would be a good thing.

With all recorders you need media. Convergent Design offers a few different size proprietary SSD drives for the Odyssey7Q. I know a lot of people get irritated with the price but these SSD drives are thoroughly tested and make the Odyssey7Q a very reliable recorder with features not found in other recorders like power loss prevention. Convergent Design SSDs will recover and close clips in the event of a lost power. With this price break things just got very interesting. Nice move Convergent Design!
