These cinema quality prime lens are offered at a competitive price. You can own a complete set of Veydra Mini Primes for the price of one full frame high quality cinema lens. $3192. Thats roughly $630 per lens! This is a Kickstarter package of course but hey still that’s a pretty great price for lenses with this build quality and feature set. These are true cinema lenses made for a single or dual operator setup. They take on the proven bright yellow engravings seen on Arri, Leica and Zeiss. Thats a good group to hang with!
Ryan Avery has a lot of experience in the cinema optics world. 15 years in fine optics with the last six at Schneider Optics.
He know has his own company Convergence Products Inc. a distributor of cinema camera & photography filters, optics, and accessories.
As you saw in the promo video optics aficionado Matthew Duclos is seen talking about the Veydra. If Matthew was involved in the design you can bet these are going to be solid optics. My Duclos 11-16 EF is amazing and that lens at $3,495.00 cost about the same as a full set of these MFT Cinema Primes.
The MFT Veydra Mini Primes have a smooth 300 degree focus range, constant T Stop, 9 blade iris for pleasing bokeh, high quality aluminum housings, brass plated mount and a 77mm filter thread. Nice touch! Sometimes you don’t need a mattebox and just want to pop on a filter but if you do the Veydra Mini Primes have a 80mm front diameter for mattebox compatibility.

Things I want to see and feel are breathing and flair. Of course bokeh is high on the list as well as sharpness too. I should have a set to play with in the next week or so. Check back and I’ll update this post with more information or follow me on Twitter for updates.
The Veydra primes look really nice for filmmaking with a MFT mount camera. It’s great to see a dedicated cinema set for the Micro Four Thirds Mount. I love my GH4 and I cant wait to try out these cinema primes on it.

GH3 crop factor?
Jerry, depends on what mode you are shooting in. But broadly speaking, m4/3 is roughly x2 in comparison to so called “full frame”.
Full frame Micro Four Thirds. 😀
They are Micro Four Thirds.
haha, yeah… is why I put quotation marks around “full frame”. As it is a bit silly terminology in a way.
And it is one big big HUGE marketing success by Canikon that they’ve popularised that concept/phrase! (makes everybody feel inadequate if they haven’t spent lots of money to “upgrade” to “full frame”! Pffttt…)
Great to see more options for micro four thirds lenses. Still gotta pick up a couple more Panasonic lenses and wait for the new super wide Olympus lens to come out next year before looking at anything else though.
