Sony Introduces A7II. Mirrorless Full Frame Camera With Built In 5 axis image stabilization.
Sony unveils new a7II at inter BEE today. Worlds first full frame camera with built in 5 axis image stabilization.
5-axis image stabilization (5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE)
The new 5-axis image stabilization system dramatically expands your range of expression by compensating for five types of camera shake during handheld shooting of still images and movies. So you can confidently zoom in faraway subjects, snap detailed close-ups and capture night scenes with minimal camera shake blur. Since camera shake compensation is equivalent to using a 4.5-step* faster shutter speed, you can also take advantage of a wider range of shutter speeds. All this, within super compact dimensions!
One catch is the stabilization only works with Sony lenses. Dan Chung from newshooter.com reports that yes other lenses will work. You just have to input the focal length in a menu setting first.
Not sure if a Metabones adapter will enable the function to work with EF lenses or not. The a7II isn’t a 4K camera. It’s marketing to Photographers so if you have a A7s for video this one won’t replace it. Yet. Now wouldn’t it be great if this new 5 axis IS makes it to the A7s MKII?
