Zacuto Gratical HD. Possibly The Last EVF You Will Ever Buy.
Gratical HD Product Update from Zacuto on Vimeo.
The Zacuto Gratical HD is now available for pre-order. This new Zacuto EVF could easily be the last EVF you will have to buy. I peaked inside it at NAB and wanted to stick it in my bag right then and there. Lets face it. Most cameras today have horrible EVF’s and some are tolerable. It seems like a must to replace the on board one or add another monitoring solution. The Gratical is that solution.
At first I thought the 4×3 aspect ratio was strange but not having the overlays on top of the image is so great. The image is really sharp so the size doesn’t matter. With larger displays my eye does get tired from looking around the image.
Here are the features.
Micro-OLED Display
Our Micro-OLED display supports high pixel density with unparalleled resolution, true blacks, gamma and contrast range. The Gratical HD has 5.4 million pixels on a 0.61” diagonal screen no bigger than the size of your thumbnail.
Connections
The Gratical HD includes two HDMI and two SDI ports with cross conversion from HDMI to SDI. Weather resistant covers prevent moisture or debris from getting in open ports.
High Quality Precision Optics
You’ll be amazed with how sharp the image is. The internal field of view is just the right size so that the image is large, but not so that your eye has to roam to see the entire image at once. It features a built in -1 to +4 diopter range and Zacuto’s latest anti-fog coating formula. An auto-closing eyecup door prevents sunburn display automatically without any action by the operator.

Yes this model is expensive so I have to save up to get one. I think it’s worth the investment to be able to see and evaluate my footage with precision and accuracy. It is a pro piece of kit and might not be for everyone so please don’t bark about how much it costs. 😀
