Sony a7R II are Arriving in Europe and Dan Chung is shooting samples
Nice samples from Dan Chung of Newsshooter.com with a production model a7R II. I like the look a lot and so far Dan seems pretty happy in the blog post. Check it out HERE for part one.
Click HERE for the slow motion test article. Dan says the HFR footage isn’t any better than the A7s and that’s to bad since the A7s shoots soft and has all the image issues one doesn’t like.
Dan Chung: I had high hopes that this would be better than the a7S, but sadly the image is still pretty soft and laced with aliasing. This is a real shame given how good the 4K modes are. It would have been great to to see 1080P instead, even if this was in a Super16 crop mode rather than S35. We might have to wait another generation or two to see slow motion that matches the larger cinema cameras coming from a compact system camera.
He is doing a bunch of shooting and really giving great insight on the camera so far. Definitely check out the blog post’s
Dan is offering downloadable samples in 4K on Vimeo if you’re interested.
Edit: I’ve just uploaded the same videos to Vimeo, from where you should be able to download them if you are a member https://vimeo.com/135103669 and https://vimeo.com/135103668
I’m hoping my review copy will arrive early next month but it might take a while since the A7R II is a very hot camera.
