  11. Hey man. So I’ve owned a recording studio for 16 years, we’ve built over 120 Broadway musical tracks that we rent to schools and theaters all over the world, and 90% of our studio Mike cabinet are made up of Rode Mics!

I am a crazy obsessive loyal fan of Rode! I love their K2 studio condenser sooooo much, but after a few years i’m getting used a ton and kind of beating up, the 25 pin cable started to come apart a little bit and not connected strongly. I called Rode to ask him if I could just order the cable, and their support guy was a total stud and just said, My don’t even worry about it just give me your address and I’ll overnight one to you tonight! Are you kidding me? They make insanely good products, but they’re insanely good products are actually overmatched by their ridiculous customer service and commitment to customer satisfaction. I’m like super sensitive to that fact in different businesses so when I see it to this extent it really impresses me.

I carry two of the SmartLav+ Mics with me at all times because I’ve been getting more into producing my videos using just my Samsung smart phones rather than worrying about a big bad camera set up.

I always carry an extra smart phone, an older one in my bag and then just keep one of the SmartLav’s accessible at all times to be able to use to record the high-quality audio from such a great Lavaliers and then obviously the video from the phone.

I usually try to use the double stick tape Inivisilav accessory to keep the mic just on my chest, but sometimes it’s a pain in the butt to put it on and keep it to stick and I end up spending more time trying to get the tape on the mic and then keep the tape on my chest then I do being able to focus on the content I’m trying to create.

So I don’t even know that this directional mic for smart phones existed until I just saw it and then I saw your giveaway and said heck yes!

We’ve been considering the Rode Link to make sure that we really do the audio right for the videos, but it’s kind of expensive and still probably takes a bit more of a hassle than is necessary.

I’d really love to try this out – something so small and portable that we can just keep in our bags and just have accessible all the time.

Plus in addition to being a marketing and online business growth expert, I also spent a lot of time teaching my viewers and students about the production side of things as well and love creating little production hacks to help them get their best stuff out in high-quality but as fast as humanly possible.

So I guess really what I’m saying is you know, you couldn’t give it away to a nicer guy who would make better use of it, that’s all I’m saying, hahaha 🙂

Either way, as a marketer, pretty brilliant strategy to use it the way that you are so kudos on that.

  12. Wei Jun says:

I’m an aspiring filmmaker so I’ll definitely use this for voiceovers! 😀 its just so small and portable i love it

  19. Fabian Palm says:

I would use the mic as a VLOG microphone for my iPhone. I make weekly VLOGs and my audio sucks!

  20. Ryan Tester says:

Hey! I’m just so impressed on how high film quality phones can produce! The only thing that it really lacks is the high quality audio that is so essential. The way that I would use this is to build a community as professional as I can.
What I mean by that is, I’m 16 years old and I love filmmaking. I also love shooting behind the scenes so I can share the experience I had during the project. Because of the lack of resources at the moment I use my phone to shoot bts. I would love to boost up the quality of my behind the scenes and I believe this is a fantastic start!

I have a couple neighbors that I have recently become very close with, one in fact who has traveled the world and is now the age of 89 yet still quite spry if I do say so myself. 52. Joshua Wu says:

    Hey Erik!

In about 2 weeks, I’m heading off to Melbourne and Europe to film a documentary on the Christmas and New Year happenings whilst also having a holiday with my family. Our Arsenal includes 3 DSLRs, mine with a Røde Videomic, 4 GoPros and an iPhone to, use an iPhone? I was thinking of vlogging as a fun first-try thing, and I was think if of using a DSLR like Casey Neistat. Though a while back I looked at the Videomic Me, and oh so badly wanted it, but it wasn’t in any stores near me. And so in conclusion to what I plan on using this for, a on the go directional microphone is great for any occasion, even if it’s filming with an iPhone. Best of luck to everyone, and I hope myself that I get it! – Josh
