Aputure Release “Array Trans” 60ghz Wireless Video System
Yes Aputure is at it again with another new product release for the budget filmmaker.
The new Array Trans Wireless Video System. ($599) It’s a 60ghz RF signal with millimeter waves as opposed to a standard 5.4ghz RF signal.
Some advantages are:
– Zero Latency Transmission
– Uncompressed and Lossless Image Transfer
– Supports 1080p 60HZ signal transfer
Wireless transmitters are expensive and something you might consider renting more than purchasing but for the low entry price and a pretty complete kit to get you shooting it might be a good investment. Hopefully I can get a evaluation copy soon.
These systems sure come in handy with gimbals when you have a second operator or when cables aren’t safe to lay down. The Arry Trans is an HDMI only product. Works best line of sight but has a pretty good range of 80 meters or 262 feet. Both units are powered by Sony type NP-FM500H batteries.

Man, Aputure has sure been on a roll lately. I’ll wait until you and a few others review it, but this is fascinating. Some really weird design and styling there, too!
Do you know if it transmits sound as well as video? None of the early specs mention that explicitly.

Array Trans is video only.
This looks like a great device for sending video to a remote follow focus puller. No latency would be really important for that. The price is certainly affordable, and the distance is more than adequate for a nearby focus puller to work with. Do you know if the unit can work with two receivers; one on a focus puller’s rig, and a second on a director/client monitor?
