Good news for Sony FS5 owners that have a thirst for RAW. The update named CBKZ-FS5RIF will cost $600. With RAW out you will get 4K 60fps RAW & 1080, 240fps RAW out of the 3G SDI on the FS5 and use the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ recorder and Atomos Shogun and new Inferno recorders.

It also looks like high frame shooting in 4K up to 240 fps will be possible with the RAW update via an external recorder.

Here is the full deal! I did a Facebook Live with Mitch Cross from Convergent Design on the NAB floor and here is full details on how to use the FS5 RAW output with the Odyssey 7Q+ or Apollo recorders.

A cool firmware new feature in the 2.0 update is auto variable ND filters. With this you can have the ND change automatically to keep the exposure and lock in the f stop and ISO values. This will be a very handy feature. The variable ND filter is one Sony will probably start putting in higher end cameras in the future. It’s just too good to only have it in the lower end priced cameras.
