Canon Updates the XC15 With addition of XLR Audio Module

XC15

I was never a fan of the XC10 and to be honest I don’t think the new XC15 priced at $2400 is going to do it for me either but hey this just might be the B-cam you’ve always wanted. For me the big issue is the lens and it’s variable f-stop zoom. Shooting video with variable f-stops is not fun. Zoom in and you have to change the exposure making the camera hard to use for run & gun. The new XC15 has the same issue.

XC15 module

The audio module will be helpful for a more robust audio capture experience with record level controls that are easy to get to. It does make the camera a little bulky up top.

XC15 now has an on-screen waveform monitor that should have been on the original as well since Canon considers it a professional camera but I digress it now has it.

    Thanks you for the review.

I’m waiting to see what replaces the Canon XF300/305; hopefully something that performs as well in low light as the Canon 5D MkIII and has the option of 4K and HD. That would be handy for bands in low light and interviews where you are dealing with a nervous interviewee.
