It’s been a while…

August 23, 20216 Comments

With life and work moving so quickly, I haven’t posted on the ole blog in a long time. I don’t think it’s a thing anymore, right?
I figured I would start over and share thoughts on what I’m up to and experiencing. Why? Good question! I suppose I feel somewhat in a rut and looking for another or maybe different way to share my thoughts.

What is going on

For the last year and a half, I’ve been working from home due to the pandemic, and while we all thought that would be great, and it probably would be if we weren’t in a Pandemic. For me, and I’m sure many of you, it has been rough. I’m not overly social, but boy, do I miss casual conversations at the station. Not easy.

We used an iphone as the main camera for anchoring the news

I did learn a lot along the way. In the beginning, I was shooting live shots for my wife with an iPhone! Crazy. It was a challenge, so I light the living hell out of it, so it looked good. I proved to myself that lighting is more important than the camera as it looked pretty good.

I was hoping to get back to the station in September, but it looks like it will be a few more months editing from home. I have a good setup, so it’s cool, but I miss being around people a lot. I think I mentioned that. LOL

That’s all for now. I don’t know when I’ll write again, but it won’t be in 3 years. Who knows what this place will become. Maybe I’ll start a cooking website. 😀

Until next time stay safe and healthy!

Hey Erik! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on life during this time. I’m sorry things aren’t back to normal yet. I appreciate your honesty. It has been hard for me too, even though I don’t work in an office with others. I’m glad you’re writing on your blog again. I hope you do more of it. Keep up the great work. Thanks for what you do for our industry.

The pandemic has hit many people hard, and it’s been a paradigm shift all around. In some ways it has been an interesting experiment, and people have learn to adapt. Some are still struggling while others are able to move on. Hopefully we are learning lessons that will lead us to a better future, if we can be patient and smart enough to get there.

Hi David. I have been soul-searching a lot and reevaluating so many things. I think that is a good thing but they have to be actionable or it can get you down if it isn’t. I’m fortunate to have kept working during this mess. Many of my friends have struggled a lot but doing much better now. Hopefully, the positive trajectory continues and maybe something good can come out of this crazy time.

Yes it has! I’m part owner of Newsshooter.com and it’s hard to contribute to eriknaso.com as well. I want to add different content here soon. Thanks!
