Sony XDCAM PXW-FS7 Official Pricing And Pre Order Now Available

Sony FS7The Sony XDCAM PXW-FS7 is now available for pre order and the price is $7999. for the body, viewfinder and grip. No media and also no mention of battery. Some of the pro cameras don’t come with them but hopefully the FS7 will.

If your intrested in buying you you need to factor in media. The FS7 uses XQD Memory Cards. These are expensive at around $300 for a 64GB but not to bad compared to SxS-1 Memory Card that cost $500 for a 64GB. A XQD Card Reader is a must too

To get started you should get at least three cards.

Good news no new battery! The FS7 uses the popular BPU90 ($425.) & BPU60 ($270)Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery. Third party versions are roughly half the price.

B&H FS7 Pre Order

The FS7 doesn’t need much to start shooting with it out of the box so add about $1600 for accessories and get to work! I’m pleasantly surprised the retail price stayed at $8K. This is a very exciting camera at a very good price. I can wait to try one out. I’m also hoping we get some news on what Canon is doing with the Cinema EOS line. A refresh is definitely around the corner C300 users looking to get into 4K acquisition might not wait now that the much cheaper FS7 is available. Good thing too is the E Mount Metabones adapters work with the New FS7 so if you have Canon EF lenses you’re good to go.

I know your thinking. Erik are you getting one? Well I would like to and my C100 is getting long in the tooth. I use my GH4 more often these days especially now that I have the Metabones EF to MFT Speed Booster. I’m still doing the math as I’m sure you are too or maybe just holding out to see what Canon brings.
