Canon released a nice piece that was captured with the new flagship C700 cinema camera. Cinematographer Russell Carpenter ASC and Canon Explorer Of Light Tyler Stableford push the camera in a lot of tough lighting scenarios from morning to night and lowlight interiors. I think the C700 looks really great. Check out the short below and be sure to play it in 4K.
The image is stunning in a several scenes. I especially liked the HFR shots of the Cowboy at 2:28. Lots of detail in HFR mode and all around the dynamic range is very good. The grain looks a little different. Not sure if it was added in post of good ole’ YouTube compression doing what it does best but it does appear to have bigger grain than I’ve seen before. I do like the grade on the piece. Nice and subtle. Not over saturated. Really can see a lot in the shadows.
