Sony’s Detailed Hands On Of The A7s Features

The Sony A7s is a low light monster of a full frame camera in such a compact body that’s capable of Ultra-high sensitivity up to ISO 409,600. No that’s not a typo!

This new video with Sony Technical Marketing Manager Ben Pilling shows us the camera and some of it’s features. I still have one on pre order but I’m not sure I’m going to get one. I have until July to decide. It’s downside is the price for me. At $2500 and the EF Metabones adapter at $300 it will cost me $2800 and thats not including extra batteries and media.

We’ve seen some very impressive samples of the HD video and lowlight performance already from Den Lennie and this video below in 4K from the HDMI output to a Blackmagic Design Ultra studio Pro that records Ultra HD. You can read more on the shoot from Den on his blog

I don’t know how the 4K was recorded for the sample above but it looks pretty darn good to me. To see it in 4K you will need to play it from Youtube. Just select 4K playback.

A couple test we haven’t seen yet is for rolling shutter and moire. The two we always worry about. It’s good to see how Sony and Panasonic are really reversing the way they approach the hybrid camera. Giving more attention to the video side. Canon are you listening?
